The Active Staff
The active staff is the staff that is is to receive new notes, rests and groups (ties, slurs, tuplets). It is indicated by a white halo around one of the staff and changes automatically when you click on a different staff.
For example, when you click the “Create Note” action button, a new note is added to the active staff.
